Release notes:
- Remap keys in real-time with ZMK Studio: Altar I is now compatible with ZMK Studio, a tool for updating key bindings on the fly. To use ZMK Studio simply connect Altar I to your computer via USB or Bluetooth, and start editing your keymap via the web app or the native app for Windows, MacOS, or Linux
- Added HOME and END key bindings: Access by pressing FN + LEFT ARROW (HOME) and FN + RIGHT ARROW (END)
- Added ability to swap CMD/WIN and CTRL positions: Press CMD/WIN + CTRL + ENTER to swap positions. Press combo again to deactivate
- Change to GLOBE key behaviour on macOS: Tapping GLOBE now opens the emoji viewer
- Added new dial behaviour: Hold FN + turn dial for CMD + PLUS (clockwise) or CMD + MINUS (anti-clockwise). This is designed for zooming in and out in software such as Figma (macOS only)
- Increased PAIR button hold time requirement from two to three seconds
- Improved LED indicator behaviour
- Updated to latest version of ZMK and Zephyr v4.1
- Bluetooth compatibility, stability, power management, and reconnection logic improvements
- Altar I firmware is now open source and publicly available

Prerequisite: Identify your Altar I pattern (either U.S. English or U.K. English). Pattern information can
be
found on the back of Altar I.
To install Altar I firmware:
To install Altar I firmware:
- Download the latest firmware
- Ensure Altar I is turned on
- Connect Altar I directly to your computer via USB
- Press FN + CTRL + PAIR simultaneously to enter bootloader mode (Altar I will now appear as a storage device on your computer)
- Copy the firmware file to Altar I (an error may appear, however the file has been successfully transferred in this case)
- Once Altar I detects the new firmware being copied, it will automatically disconnect, reboot, install the new firmware, and reconnect itself.
